The Smith and Sniff Podcast: Live from Hethel

preview

Over the years Lotus has hosted many great events at its sports cars HQ in Hethel, Norfolk. Most recently we welcomed motoring journalists Jonny Smith and Richard Porter – better known as ‘Smith and Sniff’ – for the recording of two editions of their popular podcast. Both are now available on YouTube and Apple Podcasts. (Contains strong language and adult humour)

The event was held in front of an enthusiastic live audience in the new Lotus Brand Centre at Hethel – part of the £100 million invested into Lotus’ Norfolk facilities – with the pair presenting from a small stage at one end.

Jonny and Richard arrived during the afternoon to ensure they had time to drive a Lotus Emira on the local roads and the iconic Hethel test track before the show began.

The first podcast is an hour-long recording of the pair sharing their thoughts on the Emira, Norfolk’s many homemade and handwritten road signs, their love of a well-cleaned number plate and several other motoring topics. The second podcast is a live Q&A session based on topics raised by the audience.

Rob Borrett, Head of Media and Launch Programmes for Lotus, commented: “We are avid followers of the Smith and Sniff Podcast and it was brilliant to be able to host a live recording at Hethel and to welcome so many fans to take part. Thanks to our events team the night ran smoothly and, most importantly, was great fun. Jonny and Richard were, as you would expect, witty, knowledgeable and insightful throughout. We are looking forward to welcoming them back.”

Richard Porter added: “I hadn't been to Hethel in about 20 years and couldn't believe what had been done to the place. The only thing more impressive was the professionalism and enthusiasm of everyone from Lotus, and all the hard work that went into putting on our live recording. Lotus went way beyond what we expected or deserved, and for that we say a huge thank you.”
